A high-strength, nickel-chromium-based superalloy widely used for its exceptional performance in extreme environments.
718 alloy tubes are typically made to the international standards ASTM B163 / ASME SB 163 and AMS 5589 / AMS 5590.
Key Characteristics of alloy 718 tube
Temperature Range:
Maintains high yield and tensile strength from cryogenic temperatures up to 700°C (1300°F).It remains oxidation-resistant up to 980°C (1800°F).
Mechanical Properties:
Known for its excellent creep-rupture strength,high fatigue resistance, and toughness.It is a precipitation-hardened (age-hardenable) alloy,often achieving hardness values of 36–45 HRC depending on heat treatment.
Corrosion Resistance:
Highly resistant to many organic and inorganic compounds,seawater and chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking.It is often used in sour gas and oil environments.
Weldability:
Unlike many nickel superalloys,Alloy 718 has excellent weldability and is resistant to post-weld strain-age cracking.
