Nickel 200/201 Tube

Nickel 200/201 Tube

Nickel 200 tube and Nickel 201 tube are commercial-grade high-nickel alloys, renowned for their exceptional corrosion resistance (particularly against strong alkaline corrosion) and superior mechanical properties.

We offer both seamless and welded tubes, suitable for demanding applications in chemical processing, power generation and food processing.

The “201” grade, with its lower carbon content, exhibits outstanding high-temperature strength and resistance to graphitization, making it widely applicable in heat exchangers and piping systems.

Why Is Carbon Content Important?

Nickel 200 (High Carbon):
Primarily used at temperatures below 600°F (315°C).
At higher temperatures, its carbon precipitates as intergranular graphite, causing severe embrittlement and loss of ductility.

Nickel 201 (Low Carbon):
Specifically engineered for operating environments above 600°F (315°C) up to 1250°F (677°C).
Its lower carbon content prevents graphitization, thereby maintaining material strength and structural integrity in high-temperature conditions.

Nickel 201 alloy is the standard alloy for high-temperature applications due to its excellent creep resistance and resistance to graphitization.
Nickel 200 alloy is not recommended for use in environments above 600°F (316°C),as prolonged exposure to high temperatures can cause carbon precipitation and a significant reduction in ductility.

Nickel 200 Tube and Nickel 201 Tube:How to choose?

Select Nickel 200 Tube:
Applications with operating temperatures below 315°C (600°F).
Where slightly higher room-temperature tensile and yield strength is required for chemical processing equipment, electronics and synthetic fiber production where embrittlement is not a risk.

Select Nickel 201 Tube:
Applications with operating temperatures ranging from 315°C to 677°C (600°F to 1250°F).
Suitable for caustic evaporators, combustion boats and high-temperature chemical reactors where the low carbon content (0.02% max) prevents intergranular graphitization and maintains long-term ductility.
