The main difference is the iron content.Incoloy has a higher iron content (usually over 25%),making it more cost-effective for large-scale industrial use.Inconel has a much higher nickel content (often over 50%),which makes it superior for extreme high-pressure and ultra-high-temperature environments where Incoloy might fail. 

While stainless steel is great for general use,nickel alloys are used when the environment is “too much” for steel.They provide much better resistance to stress-corrosion cracking, pitting, and oxidation at temperatures above 1000°F (540°C),where stainless steel would lose its strength or begin to scale.

Generally,no.Most common grades like Incoloy 800 or Inconel 625 have excellent weldability using standard methods like TIG (GTAW) or MIG (GMAW).However,because they are designed for high-heat environments,they require specific filler metals that match the alloy’s composition to ensure the joints don’t become the “weak link” in the system.
